Best candidate up to you in 2024

With President Joe Biden announcing his 2024 re-election and former President Donald Trump being the obvious Republican front runner, it is clear that this upcoming election will once again be plagued with very partisan stances from both candidates.

It seems that Americans are not very enthusiastic about a Trump versus Biden rematch, including the former chairman of the Republican National Committee who said, “There’s nothing inspirational about American politics today.”

What would a second Trump term or a second Biden term hold? What issues would be addressed? What are Americans thoughts on the two oldest presidents in history running for a second term?

In the current President’s recent re-election video, Biden used footage of the January 6 riot along with saying that he promises to protect fundamental rights of Americans from “Make America Great Again” extremists also known , also saying the work of his first term is to “protect democracy” and “making sure everyone in this country is equal.”

However, Republicans have been keen on attempting to keep Biden out of office. According to NBC News, 61 percent of Republicans still believe the election was “stolen” and that President Biden did not win the election, a lie which conservative personalities such as Tucker Carlson, former Fox News Anchor  have been using as a platform since the 2020 election.

To date President Joe Biden has barely any competition from the Democratic Party. His biggest rival, Sen. Bernie Sanders, opted out of a 2024 run and instead chose to support Biden, telling the Associated Press, “I’m in to do what I can to make sure that the president is reelected.”

Former President Donald Trump has plenty of competition such as former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley who announced her bid for the Republican ticket earlier this year. Haley, who served with President Trump as ambassador to the United Nations, has built her platform on very Conservative values.

According to NBC News, she opposes abortion rights and wants to keep United States borders closed, calling it “our broken immigration system.”

Besides Haley there is one clear and present threat to Trump, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis who has yet to announce a 2024 run, but has been touring the country and promoting his values as if he is running for president.

Trump and DeSantis do not really differ in values; they are both very conservative and have a clear agenda on reinstituting conservative values back into America.

According to USA Today, Biden would win against Trump in a hypothetical matchup, but lose to DeSantis. This is mostly due to the two presidents’ ages as they are the oldest presidents in U.S. history. Rival candidate Niki Haly said she believes Biden will “die within the next five years.”

Since Biden announced his presidential bid there has been a debate around his mental well being and claims of dementia have been made by personalities such as Joe Rogan. However, according to the White House, the President is in “great health.”

The 2024 election will be divisive as NBC News reports  60 percent of Americans are not hopeful for the upcoming election. However, it is important to pick a candidate who will guide America in the right direction, not for their party, but for the country and world.
