Meet the new English teachers
November 11, 2022

This year, D.C. Everest Senior High is welcoming two new teachers to our English Department, Mrs. Danielle Steiniger and Mrs. Chyaine Rosenthal.
Meet Mrs. Danielle Steiniger
Q: Where did you graduate from and what degree did you pursue?
A: “I graduated from UW-Stevens Point with degrees in secondary education and an English degree and social studies broad field science degree. I also got my master’s degree in education through UW-Superior and UW-Madison.”
Q: Is this your first year teaching, or have you had previous jobs?
A: “This is my 13th year teaching; I taught for six years at Edgar High School and then six years at Wausau School District.”
Q: What is your favorite part of teaching?
A: “My favorite part about teaching would have to be seeing students’ growth and watching them become adults and grow up and going out. That’s my favorite part seeing them in the community and the success they’ve achieved.”
Q: What is your least favorite part or hardest part of teaching?
A: “It’s always unexpected. You can’t prepare for everyday and always have to be “ON” and ready for all the unexpected. It’s a very unpredictable job working with the students and other people around you.”
Q: Why did you become a teacher?
A: “I enjoy working with students and helping people grow and achieve their goals and dreams. I like being a go-to person for kids.”
Q: Why Everest?
A: “I have always heard good things about Everest when I was back in Point doing my undergraduate degree. Then, when I ended up moving to Weston and in this district, it made sense to work where I live and in the district my kids are in or will be in.”
Q: What was your childhood like and where did you grow up?
A: “I’m from Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin, near Door County and I grew up an only child. My whole family still lives there and we visit often, though I currently live in Weston.”
Q: What is your family life like? Husband? Kids?
A: “I have a husband named Eric and two kids; an eight-year-old named Hazel and a one-and-a-half-year-old named Braelyn.”
Q: What are some of your hobbies?
A: “I enjoy fishing, hunting, biking, hiking, hanging out with friends and family, anything on water or that involves water, snowshoeing, scrapbooking, and reading.”
Q: What would be your dream job if not a teacher?
A: “I wanted to be an airline pilot as I thought it would be cool to travel around the world and fly, but I always wanted to be a teacher too, and that was more realistic with my ties to wanting a family and being home.”
Welcome Mrs. Chyaine Rosenthal

Q: Where did you graduate from and what were your majors?
A: “I graduated from Amherst High School, which is about an hour and a half away, and then went to UW Milwaukee where I received a Bachelor Science with a focus of nursing. Then after two years of nursing, I went to UW-Stevens Point where I got my teaching degree.”
Q: Is this your first year teaching or have you had previous jobs?
A: “I student taught at Rosholt, a very small town, last year and that was a lot of fun, and then before that I was a nurse.”
Q: What is your favorite part of teaching?
A: “Talking with students and hearing how they interpret books. I am a book nerd, so I love when students start discussing books and view them differently than I do; like tell me more and back it up with evidence.”
Q: What is your least favorite part or hardest part of teaching?
A: “Probably lesson planning.”
Q: Why did you become a teacher?
A: “I have had amazing teachers in my life and I would not be where I am in my life without them. So when I started thinking about a new job while I was a nurse, I kept thinking back to them and my love for literature. Those combined with all the things I’ve been hearing about this age group changing the world made me think I wanted to get in on that.”
Q: Why Everest?
A: “I had a friend who was a student teacher here last year and she told me about the amazing English department you guys have here, so I wanted to be a part of that. I also enjoy the way they view students as people before they view them as just students and that is the main reason I wanted to work here.”
Q: What was your childhood like and where did you grow up?
A: “We moved around a lot as I was growing up, but tended to stay around central Wisconsin and I believe we went to 4 different school districts growing up. I had a huge family as well with eight brothers and five sisters, which was mostly good and involved lots of hanging out with kids and babysitting the little ones.”
Q: What is your family life like? Husband? Kids?
A: “I have a husband of three years and we have a dog, a goldendoodle, as well.”
Q: What are some of your hobbies?
A: “Like the typical English teacher, I like to read and to write, but I enjoy gardening as well. I’m not amazing at it, but I’m trying my best and have a herb garden.”
Q: What would be your dream job if not a teacher?
A: “If I had the skills and talents, I think being a fashion designer would be awesome. I can’t draw or sew, but I think it would be a cool job.”
Q: Anything else you’d like students to know about you?
A: “I am always available for a book recommendation, whether they are giving me one or need me to give them one.”
