With a regional competition right around the corner you can definitely depend on seeing every participant in Mock Trial stressfully, yet diligently, working on their case materials, directs, crosses, along with their openings and closings.

Along with working hard, lawyers are memorizing everything, and witnesses are working on their character in order to progress with each practice. With it being Lily Bilven’s first year as a lawyer you’ll definitely find her doing all of that and then some. Ever since Mock Trial started in October,Bliven has been putting in countless hours to argue her case in court.

Not only is she involved in Mock Trial, but she’s deeply involved with theater, Bliven recently participated in the D.C. Everest fall production of Seussical.

She also has a job working at the YMCA as a receptionist. Along with all of these extracurriculars and her job, she still manages to maintain outstanding grades and challenges herself with AP classes.

At a competition in Green Bay on Jan. 27th, Bliven’s hard work paid off as she won an award for “Best Lawyer”. She won the award while competing against 13 teams across the state. Not only did she receive this huge honor at the largest Mock Trial scrimmage of the year, but she finished the three-round day with a perfect score.

“It’s extremely impressive because she’s a first time lawyer. And she deserves it because she worked hard,” said Mr. Travis Greil, Social Studies teacher and Mock Trial Coach.

Bliven is always demonstrating amazing support and sportsmanship for her team and all the other teams she competed against. Everyone on the Mock Trial team is extremely proud of our beautiful friend, she deserves it more than anyone.

“Outside of the courtroom Lily is a great friend and a wonderful person to be around,” said Libby Radies, junior. “She is always very positive and gives the best advice.”

Not only is Bliven a hard-working person and a powerful lawyer, she is an amazing friend who we are exceedingly proud of. You’re going to go far in life Lily. Never give up because you’re going to accomplish great things.
